| Like the rest of us 'dog lovers', Doug and Sheila Nelson think everyone of their dogs is 'special'! However, as we all can understand, we get much closer to some of our dogs than others. 'Q', a beautiful, multi talented, black flatcoat, was one of those dogs you loved to be around. His eyes stayed focused on you, and you knew that he understood what you wanted him to do, and he did his best to please you. Although only 3 y/o, Q crammed a lot of living into the time he was given. Aside from his multiple titles in a variety of specialties, he brought love and joy beyond measure to everyone he met. He was a TEAM PLAYER! He brought grace and a chuckle to every obedience trial he entered and a well deserved respect for each retriever hunting test he enthusiastically entered. He was Sancho's best buddy and constant companion. He fought the brave fight! A week before his cancer was diagnosed, he won back to back group placements in the conformation ring. Five weeks after his surgery and diagnosis, he earned a CDX leg and 4th place trophy in the obedience ring. On September 29, 2002, he ran as test dog for the Brazosport Retriever Club's Senior Hunting Test and made it look like a run in the park. Only 18 of 47 dogs passed the test. The judges and gallery showed their strong appreciation for his efforts! Q was a magnificent dog, awesome companion and is sorely missed by those of us who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Doug & Sheila, and we all appreciate them sharing Q with us! |
