"GADGET"

Gadget was the first registered lab that came to the Cannon family. While Vince hunted extensively, he never had a dog for a hunting companion, so he ordered books and tapes and decided he would train the dog himself. Little did he or his family know that Gadget would become an integral part of the family and lead Vince into a pro training career. Gadget loved to please Vince, and it was soon obvious Gadget should compete in the hunting test game.

Vince and Sabrina were charter members of the Brazosport Retriever Club, Inc., and they not only advanced the club goals, but Gadget and his novice trainer obtained his JH, HR, SH, HRCH and MH before Gadget was two years old. He attained membership in the prestigious HRC 500 Point Club!

He was one of the 'birdiest' dogs you've ever seen, and in his last days, Sabrina gave him a pigeon which perked him up w/obvious delight.....you could see it in his eyes, but his body just wouldn't cooperate. In his younger days, Gadget was an obvious yellow lab that occasionally hopped around but not break in his enthusiasm when birds were thrown w/out loosing his marks and 'pinning' them on the retrieves. Folks swore the dog could see orange ribbons, but Vince never admitted it.

Vince, Sabrina, Cordell and their dogs Chaser and DaMan thank Gadget for introducing them to many of us in the hunting test game. Lasting friendships were made. He will sorely be missed and never forgotten, and the Cannon Family says, "God speed, old man. Run around and play. We'll meet up again. We love you!"
