Field trials are events licensed by the American Kennel Club. Judges evaluate retrievers' abilities including natural abilities (memory, intelligence, attention, nose, courage, perseverance, and style) and abilities acquired through training (steadiness, control, response to direction, and delivery). Dogs compete against one another in field trials. Contact the AKC for field trial rules and regulations. The BRC is licensed by the AKC to hold field trial events.
